    EFMP Coffee Connection. Family support meet and greet working group for events and support to connect with other families. First Fri of every month. 1 Aug, 9 - 10 am. 

   Family Connection Playgroup. Join EFMP/NPSP playgroup for families with children ages 0 - 4 Fri, 1 Aug at 10 am. This playgroup is on Fridays and will utilize the Youth Programs Gym during the school year.

    Smooth Move Workshop. Helps member to be more prepared for PCS moves. 13 Aug, 9 to 11 am. Sign up by calling today!

    Remote Tour Brief. Wed, 13 Aug, 8:30 am.  Provides members PCSing to a remote location with A&FRC services available for their family during this period of separation. Emphasizes the importance of communication to stay connected with one another as well as giving the member an opportunity to share any concerns their family might need assistance with during this separation.

    Transition GPS. This 5-day workshop is designed to prepare those leaving the military with employment skills necessary to secure employment in the civilian sector. Attendees will learn the job process, understand vacancy announcements, resume preparation, the job interview, salary negotiation, and other valuable skills. The workshop will be held 4 - 8 and 18 - 22 Aug starting each morning at 8 am. Please call to sign up, seating is limited.

   
Federal Resume Writing. Learn the mechanics of developing your federal resume. Participants will learn how to determine their eligibility, search for a job, how to self-nominate for vacancies, and how to properly format the resume and supplemental information. The workshop will be held 14 Aug, 1 – 3 m. Please call to reserve your seat.

    Private Sector Resumé. Workshop tailored to private sector resumés for private businesses. This workshop held 21 Aug at 9 am.

     Newcomer's Orientation (formerly Right Start). Inprocessing and newcomer orientation is held two Tuesdays per month at the Moody Field Club. This is a mandatory briefing for active duty personnel, and spouses are highly encouraged to attend. Right Start will be held 5 and 19 Aug at 7:30 am. 

     Group Preseparation Counseling. Accomplished using the DD Form 2648 checklist which covers Employment Assistance, Veteran Benefits, Relocation, etc. This mandatory briefing is required for every member separating or retiring from the military and is a prerequisite for attending the TAP seminar. This class needs to be scheduled 90 days or more prior to your actual separation date. The dates for this workshop are Each Tues, from 9 - 11 am.

    Ditching the Dorms. Thurs, 14 Aug, 10 am. Held the 2nd Thurs of each month, this workshop is designed to prepare Airmen for the financial changes that occur when moving out of the dorms. Bring your most recent end of month LES and be ready to complete a personalized spending plan. Finishing the course meets the requirement for the Personalized Financial Management Review and Recommendation. Reserve your seat today!


    CASA Volunteer Training. This is a 2 day workshop, 12 - 13 Aug,  to provide the initial training to become A Court Appointed Special Advocate Volunteer. You must attend both days in order to complete the training. Court Appointed Special Advocate advocates (CASA) for children in the court system by providing reports and information based on what the child's needs are.

    AF Heart Link. Fri, 22 Aug, 9 am. This workshop is a great opportunity to increase knowledge of the Air Force mission, culture, traditions, protocols and available programs and seminars in a fun relaxed atmosphere. Make new friends while learning more about the Air Force! Register by calling A&FRC and ask about FREE childcare during the workshop!
 
    Boots to Business (B2B). Two day workshop, 27 - 28 Aug,  on procedures on how to start your own business and also how to start a home based business. Contact the A&FRC to register.
 
    Bundles for Babies. Wed, 20 Aug, 9 am. Learn the basics of labor, delivery and caring for your newborn. Other topics include financial awareness of the cost for raising a child, stress management for new parents and car seat safety. Participants receive a FREE gift for their new bundle from AFAS! Preregistration is required.

    2014 Moody Transition Expo. Thurs, 4 Sep, 9 am - 3 pm. Join us in Bldg 400 with copies of your resume, dressed for success and ready explore your post military career options and learn how to achieve your goals with great opportunities from several Veteran focused companies. Sponsored by A&FRC and the GA Department of Labor.

    Need full time care? CDC has immediate openings for full time care in several age categories! If you are interested in enrolling your child, age 6 weeks through preschool come by the CDC, Bldg 210, for a tour and additional information.

   
Hourly Care. Looking for time to go to the gym, out to lunch with friends or have a medical appointment? Moody Child Development Center has hourly care spaces available! Reservations can be made two weeks in advance or same day.  The hourly care fee is $5 an hour per child. All registration paper work must filled out and returned to the program prior to your child attending to include a current immunization record as well as H1N1 and Influenza vaccine documentation. If your child has a special need, child's physician will need to complete a Special Needs Package to be approved by our program medical advisor. Care space is available for children 1-4 years of age, as well as 6-12 months.  Call to make reservations or to request a tour of the facility!

     Give Parents a Break.  Air Force Aid Society’s respite care program for youth ages 6 weeks to 4 years (CDC) and in kindergarten through age 12 (Youth Center) will be on Sat, 16 Aug, from 10 am to 4 pm. To be eligible to use the program your child must have a current referral and the required documentation must be filled and returned to the program prior to making reservations.  This documentation must also include a current immunization record.  As a reminder, for those children remaining in the program after 4 pm, an additional charge of $1/minute will be assessed as a late fee. The Air Force Aid Society is not responsible for paying these late fees; but rather it will be the direct responsibility of the parents.  If you incur a late fee charge, this fee must be paid prior to you being able to utilize the Given Parents A Break Program again.  For more information and to make reservations please call.
     Eligible families include those where a parent is feeling stress due to:
     -The military member being deployed, on an extended TDY or on a remote tour of duty
     -A family crisis or emergency such as serious illness of family member, death in the family, extended illness of family members, birth of a new baby, etc.
     -Having a child with special needs
     -Unique circumstances or hardship

    Fun in the Sun. Fri, 22 Aug. Parents are invited to join us as we say "so long" to summer with our Fun in the Sun event! Bring a swim suit, towel and watershoes. The fun starts at 9:30 am and will continue through the day, so be sure to check your child's classroom for their scheduled time. Hope to see you there!

    Second Quarter Birthday Meal. Wed, 30 Jul, 11 am - 1:30 pm. Meal card holders & guests with birthdays between 1 May and 31 Jul are invited to enjoy a Surf N' Turf style birthday meal featuring steak, BBQ chicken and fried shrimp. Sign up for your meal at the DFAC today!

    Cupcake Wars. Wed, 27Aug, 2:30 - 4:30 pm. It's war! 3 teams will face off against each other to make the best cupcakes based on a mystery theme. Judging will be based on creativity, taste and plating. Team submissions are due by 2 pm on Wed, 20 Aug to the Dining Facility with a team meeting Fri, 22 Aug at 2 pm.

     
    Midnight Meal.  Midnight meal will move to DFAC and will be restricted to Emergency Responders and Essential Station Messing (ESM)/Meal Card customers in "uniform only".

     Are You Living In Base Housing & Interested In Becoming An FCC Provider? The Moody AFB Family Child Care (FCC) Program is accepting applications for a new FCC Provider in base housing. This is an exciting opportunity to support the mission here at Moody, receive free childcare training, and bring extra income into your home. If you are a resident of Magnolia Grove or Quiet Pines and are interested in becoming an FCC Provider, please contact the FCC Office at 229-257-3907.

   
Child Care. If you are in need of full-time childcare, part-time, hourly, swings, mid-shift, evenings or weekend childcare, Family Child Care (FCC) is here to serve your need. Our Air Force Licensed and Affiliate providers can care for children with special needs, infants, and school age children. We even offer free Extended Child Care (ECC) for extended duty (EDC), returning from deployment (RHC), and primary UTA Reservist weekends (HCC). 

    Unlicensed Childcare.
Anyone who resides in base housing and cares for children for more than 10 hours per week or on a regular basis, whether paid or not, must be licensed by the Mission Support Group commander.  Individuals providing unlicensed care for children in their housing units risk losing the privilege of residing in base housing.

Family Fitness Boot Camp. Sat, 2 Aug, 10 - 11 am. Team Moody families are invited to join us for a fun filled circuit style workout utilizing everyone's favorite childhood favorite activities. All teams must register by 1 Aug.
 
    Freedom Volleyball Tournament. Fri, 8 Aug, 2 - 4 pm. Each team will compete head to head in a heated volleyball match! The first round of matches will be five minutes each and second round will be 10 minutes each in this double elimination tournament. Must have at least 6 teams in event. Top male and top female teams win!
All teams must register by 7 Aug.
 
    Ultimate Sit Up / Push Up Challenge. Fri, 22 Aug, 2 - 4 pm. Each competitor will be challenged to do as many sit ups as possible in two minutes, followed by a similar 2 minute push up challenge. The three highest combined scores will be recognized as top performing athletes in our Fitness Center! All competitors must register by 21 Aug.

 

   
Gump Running Club. Log your miles everytime you run (inside, outside, track or treadmill)and earn prizes when you reach preset mile markers! Stop by the Fitness Center front desk for more information, complete rules and score card. Prizes are limited and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Fitness on Request. Fitness on Request has been installed and is available at the Fitness Annex! This program is currently being used in over 80 military facilities around the world and offers over 50 classes including Kinetics, TKO, Zumba and more! Enjoy the benefits of classes available throughout the day on your schedule that you can schedule from your laptop! Group or individual workouts available anytime the Fitness Annex is open (Mon - Fri from 4:30 am to 10 pm and 10 am to 6 pm on holidays and family days).

   Jogging Strollers. Freedom 1 Fitness Center offers jogging strollers and bike trailers for daily check out. Moms and Dads, you can now take the little ones with you on your daily walk, jog or ride around Moody AFB. Check out is for 2 hour time periods for use on base.

Moody Talking Tigers Toastmasters. Join us each Thurs, 5 pm at the SPOT for an hour of professional development and fun!     Tuition Assistance Update. We're happy to announce that Tuition Assistance has been reactivated for military members. TA briefings will be conducted on Tues at 2 pm and Thurs at 8:30 am.

Digital Services and OverDrive Online Resource Training Aid

 

    Tutor.com. 
Students in military families can get free personalized online tutoring and homework help from live experts 24/7 at www.tutor.com/military . With tutors available to help them any time, any day in all core K-12 subjects, military students of all skill levels can achieve success this school year. K-12 children in National Guard, Reserve and Active Duty Military families are eligible to receive one-to-one academic support 24/7 in math, science, English and more, regardless of the service member's branch or deployment status at NO COST through funding by the Department of Defense MWR Library Program, the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program and the Navy General Library Program.


     Federal Daily. The Federal Daily can now be accessed through the AF Portal!  Simply login to the Portal, place your cursor on Library at the top of the screen, and from the dropdown menu click on "Databases and Online Resources", then scroll down to Federal Daily.  This service provides access to FEND, weekly updates, coverage of legal cases, benefits options review, and general employment news.  It also provides access to the Federal Employees Almanac which is updated annually with the latest federal employment policies regarding pay, benefits, time off, transition rules, retirement plans such as CSRS, FERS and TSP, and and other resources.  

     
Learn a second language online.  FREE for Air Force! There are two online offerings for patrons to learn a foreign language or who have English as a second language: 
    TRANSPARENT LANGUAGES:  Self registration in Library; use anywhere, anytime; no deactivations, self paced; broad eligibility rules; for Quality of Life for USAF personnel only; not for training purposes; 80+ languages; can learn multiple languages; emphasizes quick development of basic memorized proficiency; language support for those with English as a Second Language.  
    MANGO:  Provides 36+ languages; requires your 14-digit Library ID number to enroll (can be acquired at the Circulation Desk in the Library - but not over the phone; each lesson covers all four key-language components - Vocabulary, Pronunciation, Grammar and Culture – while maximizing comprehension and retention; once enrolled, has online customer support.

     Monthly Newcomers Tour.  Join Force Support for a FREE Newcomers Tour on Wed, 30 Jul, from 8 am to approximately 2:30 pm! This tour is open to all military, civilians, retirees and families ages 5 and up* who are new to our Moody community or just want to find out more about what's happening around the base.  The tour includes a free breakfast and lunch, plus transportation on a guided bus tour through Moody AFB, the surrounding Valdosta area and Grassy Pond.  Come see all that the Force Support Squadron has to offer!  To sign up, send an email to 23fss.marketing@moody.af.mil or call the Marketing office at 257-2033.  Please provide your name, rank and/or status (active duty, civilian, dependent, etc.), email address and a contact number where you can be reached.  Space for each monthly tour is limited, so sign up early!

    Paintball Nights! 8 & 22 Aug, 5 & 19 Sep, 7 to 10 pm. Come test your paintball skills on our course at NIGHT! $10 includes half case of paintballs, gun, mask and CO2. Scalloping. Sun, 17 Aug. The 'Big Bend' area of north Florida is one of the few places in the world where you can catch your own scallops, usually staying in 3 - 4 ft deep water, and fairly easy to catch. Guests will be able to keep up to 2 gallons of whole scallops each and local companies will assist with the cleaning of the scallops! $60 includes transportation, snorkel gear and a guide. Tips for the captain and crew are encouraged but not required and are separate from the price of the trip.

    Deep Sea Fishing in the Gulf. Sat, 6 Sep, 4:15 am. Come aboard The Swoop for a day of fishing on the Gulf! $35 cost includes fishing license, bait, rod and reel, instruction and 6 hours of fishing! Registration deadline is COB 25 Aug.

Come kick it with Youth Programs and instructor Winston Prescott, offering Shito-Ryo karate classes! Classes are ongoing and need 3 participants to begin.

Fri, 22 Aug, Family Skate from 6 - 7:30 pm; Youth Skate from 7:30 - 9 pm. Come skate to your heart's content at Skate Night! We provide skates and rollerblades but feel free to bring your own. Skate contest, limbo, dancing, music and more! Cost is $3, parents skate FREE!

  
Paintball. Join us for this character-building and awesome sport Thurs, 14 Aug, 6 - 8 pm! Youth learn about teamwork, gain self-confidence and develop leadership abilities while having fun and being physical. When the adrenaline starts pumping, you can't help but love the thrill of the game! Cost is $16.

    Kid's Night Out. Mom & Dad, want a night out but don't know what to do with the kids? Bring them to the Youth Center on Fri, 15 Aug from 6:30 - 10:30 pm for a fun-filled night with their friends. Theme is "Pirates and Fairies". We'll have games, crafts, movies and dinner for all kids Kindergarten through 12 years old. Cost is $20. No open recreation is available this evening. 


   
Give Parents a Break. Air Force Aid Society’s respite care program for youth ages 6 weeks to 4 years (CDC) and in kindergarten through age 12 (Youth Center) will be on Sat, 16 Aug, from 10 am to 4 pm. To be eligible to use the program your child must have a current referral and the required documentation must be filled and returned to the program prior to making reservations. This documentation must also include a current immunization record. As a reminder, for those children remaining in the program after 4 pm, an additional charge of $1/minute will be assessed as a late fee. The Air Force Aid Society is not responsible for paying these late fees; but rather it will be the direct responsibility of the parents. If you incur a late fee charge, this fee must be paid prior to you being able to utilize the Given Parents A Break Program again.     Missoula Children's Theatre Camp. 28 Jul - 1 Aug. Join us for this year's production of Hansel and Gretel! Open call tryouts for ages kindergarten to 12th grade will be held 10 am - 12 pm at the Hoffman Auditorium. Fifty to sixty students will be cast and well-rehearsed throughout the week, learning lines, songs and choreography to perform as an ensemble in producing a full-length musical! All of our shows are original adaptations of children's stories and fairy tales...a twist on a classic!

    End of Summer Dance Party! Calling all youth! Come help us celebrate summer by busting a move! Music will be turned up and the disco ball will be spinning! FREE cake, snacks, games and more! Join us on Fri, 1 Aug at 7pm. This event is FREE! Always remember to bring a friend!

    Back to School Bash.  Join us on Fri, 8 Aug at 6 pm as we kick off the new school year with awesome games, prizes and food! This event is FREE! All youth will be entered for a door prize. Music, dancing, games and more! Come join the fun and start they school year off with a bang!

    Babysitter's Course. Want to earn some extra cash? Become a 4-H trained babysitter. Youth Programs will be offering a Babysitting Course on Sat, 16 Aug, 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Space is limited so sign up now!

   Youth Employment Skills (YES) Brief. The YES program is an on-base volunteer program for high school students and is offered at selected Air Force bases. This program, underwritten by the Air Force Aid Society (AFAS), is a joint effort between AFAS and the Air Force Family Member Program Flight to offer high school students an opportunity to learn valuable work skills, "bank" dollar credits toward their post-secondary education/training, and have a positive impact on their base community. YES allows high school students to "bank" $4 in grant funding for every hour volunteered in an on-base function. Students may accumulate as much as 250 hours over all 4 years of high school combined, for a potential maximum of $1,000 toward their future academic endeavors. Passport to Manhood
(P2M). Th passage from boyhood to manhood is challenging, requiring adolescent males to understand and manage many issues and transitions. Passport to Manhood addresses critical issues that young men face during this time, such as ethics, decision making, wellness, fatherhood, employment and careers, cooperation and conflict, diversity, relationships and self-esteem.     GO GIRL GO! This program uses sports and physical activity to improve the health and wellness of sedentary girls. This award-winning program empowers community organizations with education, public awareness and networking. One in three girls is sedentary, while the other gets no more than thirty minutes of physical activity a week. We get girls moving not through direct service, but by supporting programs and organizations that work with these girls. GoGirlGo! identifi es and weaves together quality resources within each community and provides comprehensive support to organizations through a hands-on curriculum and networking opportunities. Then come to come to any of these meetings and have your voice heard!  KEYSTONE meets every Wed from 4:30 to 5:30 pm for ages 13 to 18, TEEN COUNCIL meets the last Wed of each month at 5 pm for ages 13 to 18, and TORCH meets every Tues from 5 to 6 pm for ages 9 to 12.     Volunteers - Looking for a way to make an impact in a child's life? Volunteer your time to be a tutor for Power Hour at Moody Youth Programs! The program runs Mon to Thurs from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for ages 5-12 and 4 to 5 pm for ages 13 and up. Volunteer tutors are needed to assist youth with homework and study skills in reading, math, educational games, spelling, and more! All volunteers must complete a volunteer packet complete with a reference check and base Installation Records Check.
