     Smooth Move Workshop. Helps member to be more prepared for PCS moves. 16 Apr, 9 to 11 am. Sign up by calling Sandi Liotti 257-3120.

     Transition GPS. Presented by the Georgia Department of Labor, this 4-day workshop is designed to prepare those leaving the military with employment skills necessary to secure employment in the civilian sector. Attendees will learn the job process, understand vacancy announcements, resume preparation, the job interview, salary negotiation, and other valuable skills. The workshop will be held 21 - 25 Apr starting each morning at 8 am. Please call to sign up, seating is limited.

    Federal Resume Writing. Learn the mechanics of developing your federal resume. Participants will learn how to determine their eligibility, search for a job, how to self-nominate for vacancies, and how to properly format the resume and supplemental information. The workshop will be held 15 Apr, 9 – 11 am. Please call to reserve your seat.

    Private Sector Resumé. Workshop tailored to private sector resumés for private businesses. This workshop held 13 May, 9 am.

     Right Start. Inprocessing and newcomer orientation (Right Start) is held two Tuesdays per month at the Moody Field Club. This is a mandatory briefing for active duty personnel, and spouses are highly encouraged to attend. Right Start will be held 22 Apr at 7:30 am. 

     Group Preseparation Counseling. Accomplished using the DD Form 2648 checklist which covers Employment Assistance, Veteran Benefits, Relocation, etc. This mandatory briefing is required for every member separating or retiring from the military and is a prerequisite for attending the TAP seminar. This class needs to be scheduled 90 days or more prior to your actual separation date. The dates for this workshop are 29 Apr from 9 - 11 am.

     Career Technical Track Workshop. 14 - 15 Apr. Are you a service member or spouse seeking job-ready skills and industry recognized credentials upon separation or retirement from the Military? Partnered with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) staff, the Career Technical Track assists in transitioning to civilian life while navigating through the decisions involved in selecting a technical career. Participants will receive assistance in: defining personal technical career goals, identify required credentials, finding technical training opportunities, identifying local veteran resources and creating a plan to utilize their VA education benefits. The outcome is a customized plan for success to help smooth a service members' move toward a technical career. Participants should bring: Individual Transition Plan (ITP), Military service transcripts, O*Net Self-Assessment/MOC Crosswalk results and personal budget to the workshop.     Wing Volunteer Recognition Ceremony. The Wing Commander will be recognizing Team Moody Volunteers. This event will be held at the Moody Field Club 17 Apr, 10 am.

    Key Spouse Tour of Wiregrass Tech. Tues, 29 Apr. Key Spouses are invited for a tour of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. Learn what they have to offer and enjoy an educational adventure! Lunch will be offered for a minimal fee.
 
     Spouse Appreciation Day. Wed, 14 May, 9:30 - 11:45 am at the Wing Auditorium . You're invited! Celebrate all our military spouses do with a visit from the 2013 Air Force Spouse of the Year, Mrs. Verenice Castillo. Also recognized as the 2012 Maxwell Key Spouse and the 2012 Team Maxwell-Gunter Key Spouse of the Year, her presentation will discuss why leaders and spouses need to be supported and advice on how to have a successful and active Key Spouse program. Mrs. Castillo will also talk about the program she developed to train Key Spouses at a higher level of advocacy and share what the Military Spouse Advocacy Network is doing to assist at individual installations.      Heart Link. Thurs, 15 May, 10 am - 2 pm. Are you interested in finding out about available resources at Moody AFB? Wondering about Air Force acronyms, customs and courtesies? Do you have questions about your Active Duty spouse's benefits and entitlements? Then Heart Link is the perfect workshop for you! We'll discuss the challenges of being a military spouse, your expectations of the military and the military's expectations of you. You'll learn how to read a Leave and Earnings Statement, know where to go for assistance on or off base and meet agency representatives that will inform you about the services they provide. Spouses and sponsors are invited to attend this workshop. Lunch and door prizes courtesy of the Air Force Aid Society. Don't forget to ask about your FREE child care when you sign up!

   Hourly Care. Looking for time to go to the gym, out to lunch with friends or have a medical appointment? Moody Child Development Center has hourly care spaces available! Reservations can be made two weeks in advance or same day.  The hourly care fee is $5 an hour per child. All registration paper work must filled out and returned to the program prior to your child attending to include a current immunization record as well as H1N1 and Influenza vaccine documentation. If your child has a special need, child's physician will need to complete a Special Needs Package to be approved by our program medical advisor. Care space is available for children 1-4 years of age, as well as 6-12 months.  Call to make reservations or to request a tour of the facility!

     Give Parents a Break.  Air Force Aid Society’s respite care program for youth ages 6 weeks to 4 years (CDC) and in kindergarten through age 12 (Youth Center) will be on Sat, 10 May, from 10 am to 4 pm. To be eligible to use the program your child must have a current referral and the required documentation must be filled and returned to the program prior to making reservations.  This documentation must also include a current immunization record.  As a reminder, for those children remaining in the program after 4 pm, an additional charge of $1/minute will be assessed as a late fee. The Air Force Aid Society is not responsible for paying these late fees; but rather it will be the direct responsibility of the parents.  If you incur a late fee charge, this fee must be paid prior to you being able to utilize the Given Parents A Break Program again.  For more information and to make reservations please call.
     Eligible families include those where a parent is feeling stress due to:
     -The military member being deployed, on an extended TDY or on a remote tour of duty
     -A family crisis or emergency such as serious illness of family member, death in the family, extended illness of family members, birth of a new baby, etc.
     -Having a child with special needs
     -Unique circumstances or hardship

     Month of the Military Child Celebration. 
   Fri, 18 Apr: Painting Frenzy. How many ways can we paint? Q-tips, toothbrushes, sponges, golf balls, fly swatters. You name it and we will be painting with it!  Parents, please join us in this frenzy of creativity!  Pre-K at 2 pm and CDC at 3 pm.
   Fri, 25 Apr: A Sticky Mess. Finish off Month of the Military Child  with a mess! We'll whip up concoctions that are sticky, wet, rubbery and more! Parents are invited to get gooped, globed and glued, too! Pre-K at 2 pm and the CDC at 3 pm.

    PreK Registration. Children that are 4 years old by 1 Sep 14 are eligible to attend the GA Department of Early Care & Learning: Bright from the Start Pre-K Program! Registration will be held at the Child Development Center I (bldg 207). Wed, 30 Apr, 4 to 6 pm. Registration will be first come, first served.

     Are You Living In Base Housing & Interested In Becoming An FCC Provider? The Moody AFB Family Child Care (FCC) Program is accepting applications for a new FCC Provider in base housing. This is an exciting opportunity to support the mission here at Moody, receive free childcare training, and bring extra income into your home. If you are a resident of Magnolia Grove or Quiet Pines and are interested in becoming an FCC Provider, please contact the FCC Office at 229-257-3907.

   
Child Care. If you are in need of full-time childcare, part-time, hourly, swings, mid-shift, evenings or weekend childcare, Family Child Care (FCC) is here to serve your need. Our Air Force Licensed and Affiliate providers can care for children with special needs, infants, and school age children. We even offer free Extended Child Care (ECC) for extended duty (EDC), returning from deployment (RHC), and primary UTA Reservist weekends (HCC). 

    Unlicensed Childcare.
Anyone who resides in base housing and cares for children for more than 10 hours per week or on a regular basis, whether paid or not, must be licensed by the Mission Support Group commander.  Individuals providing unlicensed care for children in their housing units risk losing the privilege of residing in base housing.

Fitness on Request. Fitness on Request has been installed and is available at the Fitness Annex! This program is currently being used in over 80 military facilities around the world and offers over 50 classes including Kinetics, TKO, Zumba and more! Enjoy the benefits of classes available throughout the day on your schedule that you can schedule from your laptop! Group or individual workouts available anytime the Fitness Annex is open (Mon - Fri from 4:30 am to 10 pm and 10 am to 6 pm on holidays and family days).

   Jogging Strollers. Freedom 1 Fitness Center offers jogging strollers and bike trailers for daily check out. Moms and Dads, you can now take the little ones with you on your daily walk, jog or ride around Moody AFB. Check out is for 2 hour time periods for use on base.

    Moody Talking Tigers Toastmasters. Join us each Thurs, 5 pm at the SPOT for an hour of professional development and fun! We provide a supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop oral communication and leadership skills, which in turn fosters self-confidence and personal growth.

    Tuition Assistance Update. We're happy to announce that Tuition Assistance has been reactivated for military members. TA briefings will be conducted on Tues at 2 pm and Thurs at 8:30 am.

Students in military families can get free personalized online tutoring and homework help from live experts 24/7 at www.tutor.com/military . With tutors available to help them any time, any day in all core K-12 subjects, military students of all skill levels can achieve success this school year. K-12 children in National Guard, Reserve and Active Duty Military families are eligible to receive one-to-one academic support 24/7 in math, science, English and more, regardless of the service member's branch or deployment status at NO COST through funding by the Department of Defense MWR Library Program, the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program and the Navy General Library Program.


     Federal Daily. The Federal Daily can now be accessed through the AF Portal!  Simply login to the Portal, place your cursor on Library at the top of the screen, and from the dropdown menu click on "Databases and Online Resources", then scroll down to Federal Daily.  This service provides access to FEND, weekly updates, coverage of legal cases, benefits options review, and general employment news.  It also provides access to the Federal Employees Almanac which is updated annually with the latest federal employment policies regarding pay, benefits, time off, transition rules, retirement plans such as CSRS, FERS and TSP, and and other resources.  

     
Learn a second language online.  FREE for Air Force! There are two online offerings for patrons to learn a foreign language or who have English as a second language: 
    TRANSPARENT LANGUAGES:  Self registration in Library; use anywhere, anytime; no deactivations, self paced; broad eligibility rules; for Quality of Life for USAF personnel only; not for training purposes; 80+ languages; can learn multiple languages; emphasizes quick development of basic memorized proficiency; language support for those with English as a Second Language.  
    MANGO:  Provides 36+ languages; requires your 14-digit Library ID number to enroll (can be acquired at the Circulation Desk in the Library - but not over the phone; each lesson covers all four key-language components - Vocabulary, Pronunciation, Grammar and Culture – while maximizing comprehension and retention; once enrolled, has online customer support.

     Monthly Newcomers Tour.  Join Force Support for a FREE Newcomers Tour on Wed, 30 Apr, from 8 am to approximately 2:30 pm! This tour is open to all military, civilians, retirees and families ages 12 and up* who are new to our Moody community or just want to find out more about what's happening around the base.  The tour includes a free breakfast and lunch, plus transportation on a guided bus tour through Moody AFB, the surrounding Valdosta area and Grassy Pond.  Come see all that the Force Support Squadron has to offer!  To sign up, send an email to 23fss.marketing@moody.af.mil or call the Marketing office at 257-2033.  Please provide your name, rank and/or status (active duty, civilian, dependent, etc.), email address and a contact number where you can be reached.  Space for each monthly tour is limited, so sign up early!

    Panama City Beach Trip. May 24 - 26. Come get away from it all and spend Memorial Day weekend at Panama City Beach!      Saturday Night Hoops. Think you got skills? Come hoop it up with your friends at Youth Programs the second Sat of each month from 8 to 10 pm! Full court games, half court games, 3 on 3 tournaments, slam dunk contest and more! No referees, no standing, just honor calls and good sportsmanship. Different teams are formed each month.


    Skate Night.
Fri, 2 May, Family Skate from 6 - 7:30 pm; Youth Skate from 7:30 - 9 pm. Come skate to your heart's content at Skate Night! We provide skates and rollerblades but feel free to bring your own. Skate contest, limbo, dancing, music and more! Cost is $3, parents skate FREE!

    Kid's Night Out. Mom & Dad, want a night out but don't know what to do with the kids? Bring them to the Youth Center on Fri, 9 May from 6:30 - 10:30 pm for a fun-filled night with their friends. Theme is "Purple Up". We'll have games, crafts, movies and dinner for all kids Kindergarten through 12 years old. Cost is $20. No open recreation is available this evening. 


   
Give Parents a Break. Air Force Aid Society’s respite care program for youth ages 6 weeks to 4 years (CDC) and in kindergarten through age 12 (Youth Center) will be on Sat, 10 May, from 10 am to 4 pm. To be eligible to use the program your child must have a current referral and the required documentation must be filled and returned to the program prior to making reservations. This documentation must also include a current immunization record. As a reminder, for those children remaining in the program after 4 pm, an additional charge of $1/minute will be assessed as a late fee. The Air Force Aid Society is not responsible for paying these late fees; but rather it will be the direct responsibility of the parents. If you incur a late fee charge, this fee must be paid prior to you being able to utilize the Given Parents A Break Program again.     Purple Up Dance Party. Come dance the night away at the 2014 Month of the Military Child Dance Party Fri, 18 Apr, 7 - 10 pm with music, snacks, games, prizes and more! FREE EVENT for ages 9 - 18 and their families! Wear purple to show support for military children around the world!

  Youth Off Scene: Tree to Tree Adventures. Head to Tallahassee, FL Sat, 19 Apr, 8:15 am - 4:15 pm to enjoy nature and the Tallahassee Museum from 20 feet above the ground! Take on 14 tree top challenges and 2 ziplining courses. Cost is $20. Don't forget lunch money! Must register by 16 Apr!
 
     Home Alone Workshop. Thurs, 24 Apr, 5 to 6 pm. Attention parents and youth, this free workshop is for you!  Ever wondered how old you had to be to stay home alone and the legal time frames? Come find out! Learn the proper regulations and safety guidelines for leaving your child home alone. Our guest speakers will provide you with the knowledge you need.

     Megaphone Lock In. 26 - 27 Apr. Join us for a night filled with food, games, challenges against other base's youth, music and more through this joint military teen initiative! Come connect with other teens from around the world as we discuss issues affecting military kids, promote communication across military services and take the chance to give back to the community! Event for ages 9 - 18. Register by 6 pm 23 Apr.
 
     America's Armed Forces Kids Run. Be a part of the world's largest children's running event! Sat, 17 May, 8 am. Youth ages 5 and up are invited to come out and run for fun and for health! 5 & 6 year olds run a half mile, 7 & 8 year olds run one-mile and 9 to 13 year olds run two-miles on the green track. Parents and youth 14 years and up will run a 5K on the blue track. Bring the whole family for fun and fitness! Register at the Youth Center by Thurs, 15 May or online at www.americaskidsrun.org. Race Day Registration: 7:30 - 7:50 am. Don't be left in the dust, sign up TODAY!
 
     British Soccer Camp. 2 - 6 June. Youth Programs will host a British Soccer Camp at the Youth Ball Fields in the Quiet Pines Housing Complex. Two British coaches will work with all age groups on individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages and a daily World Cup tournament.
 Sessions:
 First Kicks. Ages 3 - 4 years old, cost is $79 for a 1 hour session
 Mini Soccer. Ages 5 years old, cost $94 for hour and a half session
 Half Day. Ages 6 - 9 year olds, cost $109
 Half Day. ages 10 - 14 year olds, cost $109
 Different times available, you choose what works for you!
Turn in applications and make checks payable to Youth Programs. $10 late fee will apply after 21 May. All youth receive a soccer ball and t-shirt at the end of the week. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen and a snack. Volunteer families are needed to host our coaches!
 

    Homeschool Connection. We will be hosting bi-weekly sessions for homeschooled children in the Moody AFB Community. The main goal of this group is to get to know other homeschoolers in the area, have fun, explore Moody YP, and make friends. We offer structured activities such as fine arts, science exploration, Kinect challenges, board games, ping pong, foosball, and much more! There is no charge for this group.     Passport to Manhood
(P2M). Th passage from boyhood to manhood is challenging, requiring adolescent males to understand and manage many issues and transitions. Passport to Manhood addresses critical issues that young men face during this time, such as ethics, decision making, wellness, fatherhood, employment and careers, cooperation and conflict, diversity, relationships and self-esteem.     Friday Nite Film Fest. With the increasing interest in video blogs and creation of YouTube videos, we want to provide a forum for this creative side! We hope to form a group of preteens and teens interested in film that will meet on Friday nights and create short films and public announcement videos! Meeting each Fri at 6 pm. Popcorn will be served! Bring your ideas and let’s get creative! 

      Got an eye for leadership? JOIN KEYSTONE, TEEN COUNCIL OR TORCH.  Have a program or activity you would like to see at the Youth Center? Then come to come to any of these meetings and have your voice heard!  KEYSTONE meets every Wed from 4:30 to 5:30 pm for ages 13 to 18, TEEN COUNCIL meets the last Wed of each month at 5 pm for ages 13 to 18, and TORCH meets every Tues from 5 to 6 pm for ages 9 to 12. We are waiting to hear from you!

      Teen Project Learn. 
Having trouble with your homework? Don't give up! Check out Project Learn for homework assistance, every school day, from 3 - 5 pm. You can get help with specific problems or general concepts, take practice tests on various subjects, and submit papers for feedback.      Teen Council. Calling all youth ages 13 and up! Are you looking for an opportunity to showcase your leadership skills? Join us monthly as we tackle today’s hot topics! Have an impact on the Youth Center and the base as you join the most elite youth club at Moody! The Moody Teen Council is supported at Air Force level. Come join us and have your voice heard!      Y.E.S. Program.  The Y.E.S. Program is an on-base youth volunteer program funded by the Air Force Aid Society.  The program allows high school students to "bank" volunteer dollar credits towards college.  Students may accumulate as much as 250 hours for a potential $1,000 max over all four years of high school.  Students must be a dependent son/daughter of an active duty Air Force member, must be enrolled in high school and attend full time, hours must be volunteered in an on-base position and participation eligibility and accrual of credit terminates upon high school graduation or May 31 of senior year. 

    Volunteers - Looking for a way to make an impact in a child's life? Volunteer your time to be a tutor for Power Hour at Moody Youth Programs! The program runs Mon to Thurs from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for ages 5-12 and 4 to 5 pm for ages 13 and up. Volunteer tutors are needed to assist youth with homework and study skills in reading, math, educational games, spelling, and more! All volunteers must complete a volunteer packet complete with a reference check and base Installation Records Check.
